“CareerBuilder Topples the Monster”

As seen on iMedia Connection this morning Nielsen//NetRatings is reporting that CareerBuilder has overtaken Monster in their long-standing battle for eyeballs in the latest weekly traffic numbers for the week ending January 8th (online education and careers destinations category). We’re interested to see how the monthly numbers will stack up.

Weekly NetView and AdRelevance data from Nielsen//NetRatings.

We found it interesting that CareerBuilder had managed this despite the fact that they weren’t even in the Top 10 Media web spenders category where Monster is number two.

Hi Julian,

It would be interesting to know if Google Base traffic played any part in CareerBuilder overtaking Monster. Of the big three, CareerBuilder is the only one that was willing to share their listings with Google Base.

Perhaps it paid off for them.

Bob :-)

Excellent point Bob. I have an e-mail out to a friend about this topic in the hopes of learning more about the driver behind the traffic boost and I’ll post that info here when I receive it. Thanks for commenting.

Bob, after reading your post it sounds to me as though you are saying that Careerbuilder just shared their jobs with Google Base for the asking (perhaps im wrong)…quite to the contrary I believe that Career Builder is paying a significant amount of money to have presence on Google Base.
