I sat down to do some work around 9:15 EST tonight - fired up my little Dell laptop…
….waited for my Google homepage to load in Firefox…and wait a second….What is this? I open up IE7 and get the same thing.
If I do a search from my Google search box in either browser, all seems fine - search results load perfectly. If I click the logo (which doesn’t look like their logo at all) to go back home - I get the error.
So now I am left to wonder, Is Google - hacked? Down? Seriously?
Julian runs over to his oh so superior Mac…and it works fine.
How about the browser in my RSS reader - FeedDemon? Nope - same error. How about the HP laptop that we have in our Kitchen?
Google loads perfectly…??? Julian says to me:
“Its just your computer. Clearly your browser has been hijacked.”
Ummm, ok - IE7 AND Firefox AND FeedDemon - and ONLY the Google Homepage?
What is going on here? Once I cleared my cache and cookies - everything started to work fine. Now, I have to admit, I pride myself on being a girl with a large amount of geeky computer knowledge - but have no idea what just happened, and I feel a little stupid….Can anyone help tell me what’s up?

Your headline caught my attention.
What if? Someday - somewhere, the headlines read, “The internet is down”.
What, oh whatever what, are we going to do then?
